Eligibility Criteria to be an Active Committee Member:
  1. Must be a subscriber of SKH (Annually or Life time).
  2. A graduate/post graduate in Social Work (BSW, MSW) is preferred.
  3. Should possess minimum one year of work experience in any agency like NGO, Project, Teaching social work, and Industry and all other fields of social Work.  
  4. Should involve himself/herself  actively in the activities of Niratanka

Last date – All the present members are requested to send mails stating their acceptance of the membership before 14th August, 2012 Tuesday.

Process of Membership:
  1. Interested person should send an email requesting for active committee membership providing the details of subscription, educational qualification and work experience to ramesha.mh@gmail.com . A confirmation mail will be sent if the request for the active membership is accepted.
Role and Responsibilities of the members:
  1. Member should involve actively in the activities of Niratanka
  2. Member should try to attend the meetings whenever conducted by Niratanka. In exceptional case, they can remain absent to the meeting with prior intimation. Details of the meeting will be conveyed through email to all members in advance. Since, Niratanka has members from remote areas, some time from different districts; it will not be convenient for them to attend meetings. So to provide platform to all the members, Niratanka would like to communicate all its activities through email, blog and google, groups to its members. All members can participate and contribute their views through this method.    
  3. Member should adhere to the timings of meeting and participate actively in the meeting. Should feel free to share the views in the meeting and take up the responsibility of his/her choice.
  4. Whoever takes the responsibility of any particular project of Niratanka should prepare a draft/proposal and send it to Niratanka. Later Niratanka will share it in the blog and google group.  Other members will/should comment on the proposal in the blog.
  5. Decisions are taken democratically in the meeting. However, members are expected to share their views freely on any matter mentioned in the agenda. Final decisio will be taken on democratic principle and such decistion should be accepted by all the members.
  6. Members should use the blog for all activities related to the active committee. Members should comment on any views expressed in the blog. It might be positive or negative. Even if the members are not interested on the expressed views, he or she can comment “Not Interested”. Responding to the views expressed is what Niratank expects from the members always.  
  7. Individual views/arguments are not entertained. So, members are advised to discuss such matters/views which support the growth of group.
  8. Time to time the role and responsibilities are modified and the same will be shared with the members. Members can comment on it.
  9. Periodically membership of the active committee will be reshuffled on the eligibility criteria. Non participant members will be replaced with the active participant members.
  10. Niratank preferes email correspondence. So members are advised to use email correspondence. The purpose of this initiative is to facilitate the participation of all members; especially for those who are in remote areas and districts who cannot participate in the meetings.
Benefits of Membership:
  1. Members can write articles for the journal - Samaj Karyada Hejjegalu
  2. Members can get their books published at Niruta Publication
  3. There will be concession to participate in the trainings conducted by Nirataka.
  4. Members can make use of the material available with Niratanka for the preparation NET/JRF.
  5. Members can avail the assistance of Niratanka Management Service for job, change in job, job reference etc.,
  6. Members will get the books published by Niruta Publication as honorary copy.
  7. Members can also avail honorarium by Niratanka based on their performance.
  8. Members can promote sale of books published by Niruta Publiscation and subscription of the journal – SKH and get the honorarium based on the promotion.
  9. Member can organize and conduct training programmes in association with Niratanka.
  10. Members can avail other benefits fixed time to time by Niratanka.
Frequently Asked Questions:
  1. Since I am not a resident of Bangalore, can I become the member of active Committee?
Yes. Definitely you can be the member of active committee. There are no such criteria that only a resident of Bangalore can become the member of active committee. A member can be from any part of India. Only thing is he/she should always be in touch with Niratanka through email, blog, and google group and participate actively in the activities of Niratanka.  
  1. Can I be the member of active committee without subscribing for the journal – Samaja Karyada Hejjegalu?
Since the core task of Niratanka is publishing the journal and getting it reached to all the social workers and those who are interested in the field of Social Work. Niratanka expects the person wishing to be the member of active committee should subscribe for the journal for annually or life time.
  1. Should I participate in all the activities of Niratanka or take part in any one of the activities of my interest to get the membership of active committee?
Not required to involve in all the activities of Nirataka. But the member should involve himself/herself, at least, in any one of the activities and participate actively, complete the assigned task in stipulated time frame with the assistance of other members.
  1. Is it a registered body?
Yes, Niratanka is registered under the trust act.
Minutes of the meeting
1.   Review of the tasks assigned in the last meeting:
The tasks assigned to the members in the last meeting were reviewed. It was decided that the progress of the assigned task should be shared in the google group so that other members can give their inputs, suggestions and comments on the task. It will be value edition to the task assigned.
2.   Strict Adherence to time:
Meeting got delayed as some members were not on time. It was seriously discussed that the team members should stick to the scheduled time. From next time, meetings will be held as per the scheduled time, no matter how many members will be present. So, hereby team members are suggested to be on time to the meeting. The matters discussed in the meeting will be updated in the minutes of the meeting later through email.  
3.   Sarala Samaja Karya:
Team members are suggested to share their views on Sarala Samaja Karya with Mr Ananda. It was also discussed that more suggestions can be sought from Prof HMM in this regard.
4.   Dist Level programme:
Admissions for BSW/MSW have just started and yet to get the copy syllabus.  Mr Manjunath is working on it. Other members too can coordinate with him in organizing the dist level programmes.
5.   Establishment of BSW Colleges:
Experts’ opinions have to be collected. Letters need to be collected from the Principals of BSW Colleges stressing the need of full time teaching faculties. Collecting the details of the candidates who have cleared SLET/ NET/JRF in social work from UGC. Organizing rally at district levels, if not in all districts, at least in selective districts. This task had been assigned to Mr Shashidhar and Mr Anand and it is under process.
6.   Publishing book for NET/JRF aspirants:
Mr Nagesh and Mr Gundappa are working on it.  

7.   Inviting articles and Career Directory:
It was discussed that members should work on these too. No active response was got on these two aspects. Members are suggested to take active participation in these activities.
8.   Confirmation of Attendance of meeting:
It has been observed that, except few, most of the active committee members do not confirm their attendance after receiving agenda of the meeting. It will be easy for booking if we are confirmed about numbers of members attending the meeting. So members are suggested to confirm their attendance through mail or phone call.
9.   Email correspondence:
Ideas can best be shared through email. So, Niratanka prefers email correspondence. Members are advised to correspond through email.


10.               Process of the project:
The member who has taken any one particular responsibility should draft it and share it in the group. So that other members can provide their inputs, suggestions, comments on it. Other team members are requested to respond to such emails. They can share their view in the meeting as well.
Steps involved
1.   Draft of the particular responsibility should be prepared and  sent to Niratanka and that will be shared in the blog and google group  by Niratanka
2.   Other members should comment on the shared draft in the blog with their opinions, suggestions etc., oral suggestions and comments are not entertained.
3.   Responsible member should collect the opinions; suggestions expressed by the members in the blog and implement it.
11.               Democratic Decision Taking Process:
Members are free to express their views on any activity. All members’ views will be appreciated. Finally, decision will be taken democratically. Individual ideas/arguments are not entertained.    

12.               Separate Blog for Active and Advisory Committee Members:
Separate Blog will be created exclusively for Active Committee Members and Advisory Committee Members. They will have access to this group and can comment.  
13.               Role and Responsibilities :
Role and responsibilities of active committee members will be fixed and updated in the blog. Members can decide as to which field they can contribute their ideas, views etc. Members should read the role and responsibilities and send an acceptance email. The member who is not performing any role will be replaced with the other active member.

14.               Honorarium:
In coming days, based on the performance, honorarium will be paid to the active and advisory committee members. 
Meeting with Block Placement Students and District Coordinators:
After lunch a meeting was held with Block Placements Students and District Coordinators. Students shared their experience with Niratanka. Students were advised to involve themselves in the activities of Niratanka. The roles they can play in Niratanka, the extent of their participation with Niratanka, being in touch with Niratanka after BPT, the benefits they can avail from Niratanka, etc were discussed in the meeting.   

Special Note: Niratanka has planned to bring out a bi-annual journal of social work in English. Members are requested to share your opinions on the proposed plan.
